Project Overview

City parks are important to our urban communities. Parks & Recreation Hamilton’s commitment to the planning of new parks as well as the improvement and expansion of existing parks across the city represent the type of work that is rewarding and meaningful. These are the types of projects that Burlington Paving is perfectly equipped to take on. The Corktown Project required highly skilled and experienced professionals to construct a high quality, safe and accessible multi-use sport court. In addition to the excavation of the old surface, and a pristine new blacktop, this project required fencing, line painting, and net installations.

Key Challenges

The scope of the project was greater than simply removing and replacing the old surface. It required a carefully thought out safety and accessibility strategy, execution, and management plan. Many children and families frequent this area. Pedestrian and public safety is priority 1. Working on public community parks in the heart of Hamilton requires the ability to balance; quality construction, carefully controlled budgets and timelines as well as the safety of both the crew and the people of the community.
